Give Yourself a (Re) Treat

Picture
You are invited to pause from your everyday life of busy-ness and noise to enter, either mentally or physically, a safe haven where you experience the calming effects of retreat.  By allowing yourself time for a retreat experience, you can gain a new perspective on life, your family and work relationships, friendships and God's presence in your life.  Below are retreat experiences that can be done on line in three minutes or that take you out of your environment (sometimes with people from St. Martin's and your clergy).  Check them out to see what works best for your specific circumstances.  Even three minutes in retreat can give you a new lease on your day.

  • 3-Minute Retreats (click here) invite you to take a short prayer break right at your computer. Spend some quiet time reflecting on a Scripture passage.  Knowing that not everyone prays at the same pace, you have control over the pace of the retreat. After each screen, a Continue button will appear. Click it when you are ready to move on. If you are new to online prayer, the basic timing of the screens will guide you through the experience.
  • Our Daily Bread (click here) offers daily devotional thoughts presented in Our Daily Bread and helps readers spend time each day in God's Word.  You can subscribe to the site, hear the devotion via iTunes, and many other ways, including an app. The App features links to related bible passages; downloads and pre-caches the Our Daily Bread devotional up to 30 days in advance; streaming audio version of devotional over internet connection; and social sharing via email, Facebook and Twitter.
  • Brother, Give Us a Word (click here) is a daily devotion video offered by the brothers of the Society of St. John the Evangelist (SSJE) in both Cambridge and Newbury, MA. SSJE is a monsatic community of the Episcopal Church.
